Electronic signature in the Basler Kantonalbank branch offices (BKB)

Basler Kantonalbank AG, Basel / Switzerland

Customers of the Basler Kantonalbank can now sign their withdrawal and deposit slips electronically.

In the initial phase, electronic signature was introduced at the transaction counters of the Basler Kantonalbank branch offices in order to further optimize the day-to-day operations with the help of automated, electronic processes.

This first phase involved a purely client-based architecture and the introduction of signature tablets. The implementation was designed to ensure that the solution could be expanded in subsequent phases to other applications and also transferred into the client-server operation.

Straightforward project with fast transition from pilot to live operation

The initial business case analysis had already demonstrated the outstanding cost-benefit ratio.

An analysis of existing processes and systems at the transaction counters identified high-volume application cases, such as withdrawals, deposits and safe visits, as optimum transactions that should be enabled in the first phase. After a smooth pilot phase, the solution was then implemented in all Swiss branch offices in real-time operation mode.
